I, Samir, 19 year old, 12th passed student, belong to a poor family having three brothers and one sister. I did my 12th from commerce side but for that I had to really struggle hard as we used to live in such a colony where the environment was very different. It was basically a slum area where all illegal activities like smack, ganja, alcohol, abusing people and gambling were common and could be seen at every nook and corner. I ‘Balram’, associated with Navjyoti since I was in my primary classes. I completed my primary classes at Navjyoti school which was at Yamuna Pushta. We used to get everything from our school and that was because of the efforts of Dr. Kiran Bedi madam. After my primary education I took admission in a Govt. School where we had to face many difficulties as the teachers never used to teach properly. Navjyoti arranged tution classes for us in the form of remedial education classes. Sheetal, a 27 year old female, living at Jahangirpuri resettlement colony, CD park since 1998 with her parents and three younger brothers. She is quite an active girl but because of their poor economical condition, she could not study after class Xth. She was just helping her mother in household chores at home. One day a worker from Jahangirpuri Vocational Training Center visited her home and oriented her about the vocational training courses available there.
