Running education in its own building would have its own advantages, which are summarized below:
1. Quality education: Since the services would be implemented under one roof, it would have lot of quality due to fixed infrastructure as lot more teaching learning pedagogies could be used which presently we are not able to use due to limited resources in terms of space by creating child friendly structures and resources.
2. Continued education: Continuity of education could be ensured as presently; children are kept just for a year and then mainstreamed to govt schools. A lot of time and resources are directed to follow up these children in order to ensure their continuity in schools. It is envisioned that opening of our own school, the chances of affecting retention would be much higher as children will be promoted from one class to another till class 12 and efforts directed to keep drop out rates are kept to a minimum.
3. Need in the community: There are a total of five primary schools in the area and two middle schools, each running in two shifts. Around 6000 children are being reached out through them presently. However, the population in the area is still expanding and more and more slum dwellers are being moved to this area. Thus, a lot more children are still out of school and need education services. The school would reach out to another 3000 children in three shifts.
4. Undisrupted education: Running education services in open cause lot of disruptions. For instance, classes remain suspended in extreme weather conditions. Thus, practically, classes are effectively running only for six months in a year. Moreover, there are disruptions of loud noises, rallies and other programmes that keep happening in the community.
