The present Gurgaon district comprises of nine blocks Tauru,
Nuh, Pataudi, Nagina, Punhana, F.P.Jhirka, Sohna, Gurgaon &
Farrukhnagar was created on 15th August 1979. It is the
southern-most district of Haryana.

Navjyoti is linked with the Sohna block of the Gurgaon
district for the past 12 years.

According to the population survey done in the year 2001 it
has a total population of 16,57,669 with 8,84,456 men and
7,73,213 women.

The majority of population of the district consists of Hindus.
They predominate both in the rural and urban areas except in the Nuh and Ferozpur Jhirka tehsils where the Muslims are in
majority.

The language basically is Mewati, a sub dialect of
northeastern Rajasthani. The language of the north and west of
the district in which the Ahirs predominate is Ahirwati, another
sub-dialect of the northeastern Rajasthani, while language in
east of the district in which the Jats predominate, is the Braj
Bhasha dialect of western Hindi.
