Books are a magic. They possess the ability to transport the reader to another time and place. We create this magic at the rural development centre Library. Our library comprising of books on varied topics like social sciences, general science, arts, non – fiction, fiction. The collection also comprises of audio visual aids that are used in the teaching methodology. Students are exposed to Indian ancient culture and history by showing them ancient mythological series like The Mahabharata, The Ramayana, and Panchtantra. To develop the cognitive skills of students, they are also indulged in activities where they watch an audio – visual content and interpret it. Discussions are encouraged. It is our belief that merely reading from books does not solve the purpose of education. The real learning takes place once a student gets to express what he has absorbed in the learning process and also apply it. Our approach is to make education an application based empowering activity. So be it the vocational training centre, the remedial education or adult education as part of the self help group; the focus remains on empowering individuals through learning by doing.
