ASSISTANCE
Navjyoti sees addiction as a family
disease and therefore running a parallel Programme for the
family members as well. The family assistance Programme seeks to
instill hope and faith in the family members by providing
psychological care and support to the families. Family members

Family meetings are held twice a week which are mandatory for
the family members to attend so that they can share their
hardships and experiences with each other which goes a long way
in providing insights to others in coping with the disease.
Constant and regular exposure also makes them self-reliant and
confidant. These sessions prove especially important to enable
the family develop methods to deal with their feelings of shame,
guilt, anger and resentment
Saturday
family meetings are organized regularly.
These sessions help the family members to achieve personal
recovery by becoming aware of their enabling behavior, negative
traits, develop methods to deal with their feelings of shame,
guilt anger and resentment. In this way it helps to:-
• Instill hope and faith in family members.
• Providing psychological care to families and support persons
of the addict.
• Through self-experience share hardships incurred due to the
behavior of their addicted ward and provide insight to the
members.
Capable Group
This is an offshoot of the self-help group. The members of this
group who feel confident enough to help others extend their
services accordingly. They are given proper orientation and
support through regular contacts and training programmes. |
